WinSesame creates in memory the image of the file
or folder to be protected then encrypts this image using a powerful algorithm
allowing double encryption by password plus key file without limitation of key
length from the most recent technologies in terms of cryptography . After
several checks of the good progress of the operation in order to avoid any loss
of data, it deletes all traces of the unencrypted data from the disk and from
the memory by performing a surface cleaning of the disk sectors. A folder
protected by WinSesame therefore no longer has the structure of a folder but
that of a file. A WinSesame file with the extension .wses can therefore contain
a complete file or folder. On opening the reverse process is applied.
In
order to be able to send secure data to a correspondent who does not use
WinSesame, an option is available which allows to encapsulate the WinSesame
drive in the encrypted archive. In this case the file has the double extension
.wses.exe. This archive can be used on a computer where WinSesame is not
installed. All you have to do is double click on it to display the WinSesame
window required for entering the password and possibly the key file
path.
