All your paper nautical charts available in StarNavPilot:

On the other hand, if you are a careful sailor, you already have the paper charts of your navigation area, no need to pay more to use them on your computer.

1: Have your charts scanned by a digital printer

StarNavPilot being compatible with all graphic formats, the easiest way is to have your paper charts scanned in a digital printer and loaded directly into StarNavPilot. The scan of a chart costs only a few Euros and will generally be provided to you on a CD-ROM or a USB key. The optimal definition to use is 300dpi.

2: Scan your charts with a digital camera.

You can also use a quality camera to reproduce your charts. With a little care it is possible to obtain perfect charts with this method. Do not worry if your shooting brings some distortions to the chart, the advanced functions of StarNavPilot will allow you to obtain a chart as precise as the original. The problem of the complexity of scanning charts in several pieces with a desktop scanner is thus resolved.

3 Load and geo-reference your chart:

Load and geo-reference your chart

Once in possession of the graphic files of your chart (.jpg, .png, .gif, .tif, etc ...), a few seconds are enough to load a chart scan and geo-reference the chart. You must know at least the position of 2 points on the chart (in the case of a nautical chart the parallel / meridian crossings are perfectly suitable). In the case of shooting with a camera, you can then place as many correction points as necessary to correct any distortion in the document due to the shooting.
