What are the annotations on the nautical charts?

As you would with a pencil, you can easily annotate the charts that display in StarNavPilot. You can add texts, lines, free-form polygons, images.

Creating a new annotation is done by right clicking at the desired location. Choose the desired annotation type from the context menu. The annotations tab opens. For a text annotation, enter the text to display. Choose the color and size of the text. For a line or a polygon, click on the corresponding points on the map. For an image, select the image file to use. Click on Save. Once the annotation is saved, close the tab.

Annotations can be used to display whatever you want on the charts: notes, marks, alignments ... They are independent of the chart from which they were created. If you switch to another chart, you will find your notes on the new chart displayed.
