StarNavPilot uses the
international standard format for encoding geographic coordinates, which allows
it to communicate via the Windows clipboard with any software compatible with
this format, such as Google maps, for example. This particularity can be taken
advantage of to use the mass of precise positioning data represented by Google
map in order to georeference and correct documents with great
precision.
The use of Google maps is ideal for correcting the
georeferencing of documents by creating correction points on the charts. In this
way it is easy to obtain very precise chart even in the case of a chart
recovered with a low quality camera and distorted by the shooting. Use the
characteristic points of the coast such as lighthouses, jetty points, antennas
shown on charts, or any notable landmarks. You can transfer the coordinates of
this point to Google maps to locate it quickly then retrieve the real position
of this point and import it into StarNavPilot to create a correction point at
this position. You can create as many correction points as you want on a
chart.
It only takes a few minutes to obtain a very precise document
and often more precise than the official document from which you
started.
