The MeteoFax32 modem was designed to obtain a decoding of
high efficiency even under bad reception conditions. This
modem provides an analog filtering (see analog
filter) and a digital signal processing by a
processor which executes a program (firmware) that will
process the signal and ensure communication with the
software. This provides optimal performance both on
tranceiver or pocket radio. No software can provide
satisfactory results if the signal that is provided is not
of sufficient quality such as in the case of a basic
demodulation by the sound card of the computer. This type
of demodulation does not have the required sensitivity
level when you move away from areas near the transmitters
as is the case for example during an Atlantic crossing in
the area of trade winds. Only an external modem specialy
designed for this type of signals provides global coverage
at sea See: MeteoFax32 modem
